The Brand

Butterfly Playing Cards started with a crowdfunding campaign in 2016 and has since grown into a full company with multiple online stores and even a physical store in Prague, Czech Republic.

We have now opened this store for magicians in the US, with shipping from California.

The Playing Cards

Butterfly Playing Cards are a unique marked deck made for magicians. Our founder and the creator of Butterfly Playing Cards, Ondrej Psenicka, spent more than four years developing their ingenious system before the release of their first edition in 2016.

Ondrej is a professional magician with over thirty years of experience. He performed across the world, in the Magic Castle, Chicago Magic Lounge, and other notable magic spots.

He also successfully fooled Penn and Teller on their TV show, Penn & Teller: Fool Us. Three times! For his first appearance, he utilized the features of Butterfly Playing Cards.

The Magic Features

So, what makes our cards unique? Imagine a deck shuffled by your spectator, then you immediately cut to any named card.

Name a card missing from the deck.

Correctly call out multiple cards taken by your spectator.

And there is so much more you can do with the borderless Butterfly Playing Cards. You can show sharp riffle stacking skills without looking at the cards' faces. Cut to any four-of-a-kind in an instant.

Butterfly Playing Cards should not be seen as just another deck of cards. They are a tool. A tool that allows you to perform countless miracles with minimal, or even no sleight of hand. You can perform most of the effects developed for Butterflies with no skill required.

All the secrets of our cards can be learned from the tutorial included in the Original 3rd Edition decks. It is over two hours long. In it, Ondrej explains what the cards can do, how to learn their system in a short time, and also teaches 12 effects created specifically for Butterfly Playing Cards.

The Precision

Because of the way the Butterflies are designed, we needed them to be printed with the most precision possible. Ondrej spent a long time finding the right partner to produce our cards, and he found that in Cartamundi.

Cartamundi ran a factory at that time. They utilized a technology called Precision cut, which was then unofficially renamed to Butterfly cut as we were the only ones to use it. The Precision cut ensured our cards were printed and cut with the utmost precision.

Even though Cartamundi no longer prints custom playing cards, we still have plenty of them. The Third Edition, the Seasons decks, and other borderless Butterfly decks were printed at Cartamundi.

We do everything with great attention to detail, and that goes for our playing cards as well.
